Head over to:

Select Create a new account and follow the prompts to set up your account.

Once you're logged in, you'll be able to build decks and challenge other players.

Step 2: Add Card Images

When you first open Twinleaf, you may notice that the actual Pokémon card images aren't automatically included.

Don't worry — this only takes a minute to fix.

Twinleaf allows you to provide an external JSON image source that tells the simulator where to retrieve the appropriate card images.

We recommend using the Limitless TCG high-resolution image source maintained through the Twinleaf Image JSON Repository.

Add the image source

Once logged into Twinleaf:

1. Click your profile in the upper-right corner.
2. Select Show Profile.
3. Click Edit Profile.
4. Select Images from the dropdown.
5. Paste the following image-source URL into the field:

6. Click Save.

Your cards should now display their normal artwork throughout Twinleaf.

The repository includes both high- and low-resolution options from multiple card databases. For most players, we recommend the Limitless TCG Hi-Res option.

Step 3: Build Your Expanded Deck

Next, create the deck you'll be using for the tournament inside Twinleaf.

This step is especially important for Expanded.

Expanded generally includes cards printed from Black & White forward, subject to the Expanded banned-card list and any additional tournament restrictions.

However, Twinleaf is a community-developed simulator and not every Expanded card has been implemented yet. Existing Expanded events using Twinleaf specifically require players to verify their decks by constructing them on the platform before playing.

Before submitting your tournament decklist:

Make sure every card in your deck is available and functional on Twinleaf.

Finding a card in a deck-building website or seeing that it's Expanded legal does not necessarily mean Twinleaf currently supports it.

If an important card isn't available, you'll need to adjust your deck before the tournament.

Step 4: Register for the Tournament on Lost Zone League

Twinleaf is only being used to play the actual Pokémon TCG game.

Your tournament itself takes place on Lost Zone League.

Register for the tournament and submit your decklist according to the event's rules.

Once the tournament begins, Lost Zone League will handle things like:

• Round pairings
• Match check-in
• Round timers
• Match communication
• Judge calls
• Result reporting
• Standings
• Top Cut

Keep your Lost Zone League match page open while you're playing.

Step 5: Find Your Opponent on Twinleaf

Once Lost Zone League gives you your pairing, head over to Twinleaf.

To challenge your opponent:

1. Open the three-line menu in the upper-right corner of Twinleaf.
2. Find your opponent in the player list.
3. Click their profile.
4. Select the option to Challenge them.

Your opponent can then accept the challenge and you'll enter the game.

We recommend using the same or a recognizable username on both Lost Zone League and Twinleaf whenever possible. It makes finding your opponent considerably easier.

Step 6: Play Your Match

From here, play Pokémon!

Twinleaf automates much of the Pokémon TCG gameplay experience, so you'll interact with cards and resolve effects through the simulator rather than manually moving cards around as you would on a tabletop simulator.

Remember that Twinleaf is community developed and still actively evolving.

Expanded introduces thousands of cards and an enormous number of possible interactions, so bugs can happen.

If something doesn't behave the way you expect, don't immediately assume your opponent did something wrong.

If You Encounter a Bug

If something unusual happens during a tournament match:

Stop before taking additional game actions.

Use the Judge Call functionality on your Lost Zone League match page and explain what happened.

Include as much information as possible:

• The card involved
• What action was taken
• What you expected to happen
• What Twinleaf actually did
• A screenshot, if possible

A tournament admin or judge can then determine how the match should proceed.

Twinleaf's developers also actively work on fixing simulator bugs, so confirmed issues can be reported to the Twinleaf community as well. Existing Expanded tournament organizers specifically encourage players to report bugs so that Expanded support can continue improving.

Step 7: Report Your Result on Lost Zone League

Once your Twinleaf game is finished, return to your Lost Zone League match page.

Report the result there according to the tournament instructions.

Do not rely on Twinleaf to report your tournament result.

Think of the two platforms like this:

Twinleaf = where the Pokémon game is played

Lost Zone League = where the tournament is played

Your official tournament record, standings, pairings, and advancement are all handled through Lost Zone League.
